Vascular Neurology


This is a one-year ACGME-accredited curriculum in Vascular Neurology focusing on pathophysiology at the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Science System. Fellows receive a minimum 6-month exposure to high-complexity inpatient stroke cases. The inpatient experience will provide exposure to complex neurovascular cases. The curriculum also provides a longitudinal outpatient experience, training in neurosonology and advanced neuroimaging, exposure to state-of-the-art neurointerventional procedures, neurobehavioral therapies, neurorehabilitation, and neurovascular surgery. Fellows also participate in clinical research including multi-center clinical trials. A second year may be available to interested candidates seeking additional clinical exposure and/or mentored research. After completing the fellowship program, eligible candidates will be able to apply to take the Vascular Neurology and Neurosonology board certification examinations.


Candidates must have successfully completed an ACGME-accredited residency in neurology prior to matriculation and be eligible for Illinois' state licensure. Eligible foreign medical graduates with appropriate immigration or visa status are welcome to apply. A copy of the applicant's CV and 3 letters of recommendation are required.
